Gene: [21^/GPXP2] glutathione peroxidase pseudogene 2; [GPXL2 ]

COM

An increased glutathione peroxidase (GP) activity was found previously (Sinet-1975, Feaster-1977) in Down syndrome (trisomy 21). This allows to suggest that the gene GPXP2 is actually a functional one and codes for an unknown GP isoform (the GP gene itself, according to Feaster-1977, is not linked with Chr 21)."

FAG

The gene coding for glutathione peroxidase is mapped to Chr 3p21.3 (GEM:03p213/GPX1)."
